This week I had the pleasure in speaking to Nikki Holmes from Safe Together. Nikki started her career as a West Midlands Police as a Police Officer, she then moved into a role as a service Manager with focus on young person’s substance misuse. Nikki has always had a real passion around the safeguarding of young people which took her into a role as a Children’s Services Inspector for the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
In 2020 Nikki started her own business Safer Together which is an organisation focussed on delivering training and knowledge around safeguarding young people. An area we spoke about in this podcast was Child Exploitation/County Lines, through her different roles over the years Nikki has managed to see a varied number of sides of these areas and her passion for helping young people and educated others is clear. I feel we only scrapped the surface and am already looking forward to speaking to Nikki again.
County Lines/Child Exploitation is an area we all need to be aware of, it is a subject that a lot of people have little or no knowledge of but its effecting so many young people, families and all types of schools across UK.
