About the Role

Are you a  SEN Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? We have an exciting new role for you in the Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire area!

We are delighted to be working with an exceptional all-through SEN School near Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, to find dedicated Learning Support Assistants to support their students with complex needs, including ASD. The school offers a nurturing environment where every student is given the opportunity to succeed.

This school caters to both Primary and Secondary learners, and is well-known for its tailored support for students with special educational needs, including those with ASD. Position Details:

  • Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
  • Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant 
  • Hours: Monday-Friday 09:00-15:30
  • Salary: £83-£90/Day inclusive of 12.07% Holiday Pay

Key Responsibilities as a SEN Learning Support Assistant:

  • Build warm, trusting relationships with students with ASD, creating a safe and supportive environment to help them feel secure and thrive academically and socially.
  • Implement tailored strategies to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, promoting their communication, social skills, and independence.
  • Encourage students’ personal development and independence, maintaining high expectations of behaviour and learning.
  • Assist in providing high-quality, engaging, and differentiated educational activities that cater to the unique needs of students.
  • Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities, ensuring a structured and calming environment that promotes learning for students with ASD & Complex Needs.
  • Be flexible in responding to the changing needs of students and adapt to different tasks and strategies as required.
  • Promote the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development of students.

SEN Learning Support Assistant Skills & Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach when working with students, particularly those with ASD.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, equality, and the welfare of all students.
  • A valid Enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Must be able to commute to the Welwyn Garden City.
